i found this dress when i was op-shopping with lili the other day, someone had cut the hem too short so i have to wear it with a slip but i love the print! the vest is from ROMWE and the ring is by KAREN WALKER. I love how dainty it is.

the shorts are by Karen Walker (who, by the way, is currently using one of my own photos on her website's main page) and are possibly the best drawstring shorts in the world. And the top is UNIF, from Beginning Boutique which is an incredible store, but you have to check it regularly because the best stuff sells SO quickly.

i'm amazed i've had the energy to blog today, i've been mind blowingly busy lately with photo shoots and other such odd jobs, and trying to find a full time job on top of that, 2 applications sent in the past hour, cross your fingers for me. one of my shoots is being published in a copenhagen based magazine this february so more on that later, but i shot another yesterday which is currently mid edit and looking INCREDIBLE so i'm looking forward to submitting that for publication and then actually being able to show you my work! yay!

This awesome shirt is by Karen Walker, who, despite her fame (kiwi pride) i have not owned a piece by until now. I was in the newmarket playpark store with Sophie on monday though and everything was SO PRETTY. Also, if you somehow haven't seen or heard of her eyewear line before, please do yourself a huge favour and have a look. It is actually amazing.

FRANCES took the photos for me again (i took the ones of the flowers). She is amazing as always and now has her own blog so go have a look, it's brand new, but it will be incredible once there's a bit more on it, so get in there and follow her before everyone else does.

i'm not usually a huge fan of slogan tees but this one is an exception. the font is awesome right? it's from La Dama who are definitely worth a browse as they've got what i'd vote as one of the best selections of 'hardware' on the web and are stocking some pretty exciting new brands.

in other news, i finished my university degree today and cant wait to celebrate. however this also means i really really need a serious, full time, grown up job now so let me know if you know of anything exciting :D

here's a couple of shots from a test shoot I did with Kim Oliver out at one of the ARC batches recently. I've been meaning to post them for a while but uni obligations have prevented me from getting onto it, amongst many other things. only 10 more days to go. ever. if i pass.

i've been wanting a pair for ages and i found these at romwe for a pretty unbeatable price. cant wait for summer ACTUAL to get here so i can wear them every day.

lili snapped these shots for me after which i had a fitting in new market, so we got juices and explored a creepy as old clothing store and a mall beforehand. other than that everything's been pretty high stress with uni and work and i've barely had time to breathe, or sleep for that matter, so it was nice to take a quick break and gave me a chance to get some shots up here too :D

miss unkon is an australian label with which i have been quietly obsessed with for quite some time now. thanks to the amazing beginning boutique i now own my first piece by them. isn't it a pretty dress? it looks like a marshmellow cloud and the cut out on the back is awesome. as well as miss unkon, beginning boutique also boasts stylestalker and bec&bridge as additions to their designer line up, two more of my favourite labels to emerge from aus. so yeah, go have a peek :)

when i was heading home today after this i walked past a blonde girl who smiled at me, and i was tired and my feet hurt and i was getting annoyed at my dress for flashing people every time i tried to climb anything, and as a result i think i gave her a rather odd look and didn't smile back, and now i feel terrible, so, blonde girl, if for any reason you happen to stumble upon this, i am SORRY, i didn't mean to be a rude bitch, i usually smile back at people who smile at me and i really did appreciate yours!!

i took some photos of sophie the other day for a uni project. the brief was to 'photograph a social issue'. i chose 'binge drinking'. oh and yeah, this is still cool, y'know. it's not mine though. mines better.

today i caught up with anahita, an incredible photographer based between dunedin and india who took a bunch of photos for me. she was so incredible to work with, i didn't have to use my own brain once. check out her flickr here. here's set one.

also, one of my favourite bloggers, miss halloweentown, panache inspired me to put white laces on my litas. i like it.

this post has another cause too, a wee while back i received an email from woolmark suggesting i celebrate wool. being from new zealand, celebrating wool is an all too familiar cliche, however they have a point, wool is a natural and renewable fibre so it's pretty neat. especially merino thermals when it's a bit chirry. so yeah, this is my woolly jumper. check out this website and this facebook page if you also quite like wool

i was sent this incredible ring by LA DAMA BOUTIQUE it's like the ysl arty ring, only waaay more affordable.

also, while i have your attention, you have to check out THIS BLOG i never really promote other blogs here but she's such an incredible photographer, updates so regularly, has a writing style similar to bret easton ellis, and is gorgeous. it's still a very new blog, but it's going to be incredibly popular, that much is obvious.

there's lots of photos in this post, but it was such a pretty location, it was hard to cut down.

the coat is from forever new, it was on sale but my cast has totally ripped up the lining which sucks a bit. and the shoes are from storets. my mum bought me the leather skirt and the leather top is vintage.

it's so pretty and floaty and i really like the hem line. check out their store here also, they currently have free worldwide shipping for all orders, pretty sick. the jacket is great because it's warm and the sleeves fit over my cast. i had a rollerskating incident but it's ok, it'll be fixed tomorrow.

lots of you have asked about my blogging hiatus. i have been so busy with my final year of uni, i'm seriously ready to explode. i promise i have lots of updates though so keep checking, i'll post them all in the next wee while.

vice magazine has brought THIS VIDEO to my attention, presented by palladium boots, actress odette annable explores the 'hidden gems' she has found around LA. One of my favourite things to do is to wander around the city and see what curious places i discover on my way and this video brings real light to the concept. It's inspired me to create a blog post on my own personal 'hidden gems', i think i'll muse the idea over a little and may see what i can pull together these coming holidays.

Ok so to start with, I have to apologise to as the music dies and wholesale-city who have both sent me fantastic items of clothing which I havn’t gotten around to posting as yet, I’ll get onto it as soon as I can!!

I’ve been getting a number of comments on my formspring account regarding my lack of posting lately so again, I apologise, but please try to understand that I have a life off the computer which takes priority and I will get back to blogging regularly as soon as my schedule frees up a bit. I was able to get a friend to take a few snaps of my outfit yesterday before laneway festival where I was photographing for vice magazine so here they are...

i borrowed the shoes and top from my mother, the shoes will have to be returned but i'm hoping the top will go unnoticed... until she sees this that is.

i went to the NO magazine and Lonely Hearts halloween party on saturday, it was fantastic, everyone put so much effort into their costumes. i was taking photos for NO magazine, Lonely Hearts and TV3 so i get to pick up some lonely hearts lingerie later on in the week which i'm ecstatic about, i love their stuff.

i made the lace coat and the head dress myself and had so much fun doing the makeup. i hope you all had fantastic halloweens too <3

yaaaaaay. this is my first outfit to make it to the #1 spot on lookbook, thanks everyone that hyped it!

lowlights: the lady with the broken leg at trelise cooper kids who yelled at me in front of everyone and left a nasty bruise on my arm from where she grabbed me because i was taking a photo in the wrong place. just doing my job waddup. surely there are better ways of dealing with situations then resorting to verbal and physical abuse?

highlights: all the friendly people. i was surprised at the attitudes of the international vip guests, for people considered to be high up in an industry notorious for its prima donnas and self-rightous attitudes i was absolutely blown away at how personable and inclusive they all were, and of course all the new zealanders were as lovely as always too. not to mention the amazing designs, for such a teeny country we're a pretty talented bunch.

this picture on the left here looks fantastically staged but actually my friend sam (who is a magnificent photographer, he's pikachu) took it at around 4am(?) on saturday after we all got back to my place after a friends birthday. it was quite a ridiculous night/morning/day. I think this marks the point where we should have gone to sleep, but you know.... we're not that smart.

i got the shirt the day before. it's actually quite sheer but you can't really tell here. it was pretty cheap :)

i actually took a lot of pictures on my 5D which look a lot better than these but the crap quality of these disposable camera ones is kind of awesome.

it was a fantastic night... from what i remember. the theme was actually russian but we celebrated all day so when the time came to go to my party i wasn't really in the mood to put any effort into my apperance so it was a bit of a half-arsed russian party but that didn't make it any less amazing.

I went crystal shopping not so long ago if you rememeber, well i finally got around to making something with what i brought.

the bracelets contain one skull carved from nepalese yak bone (i got them while in Nepal in january) and blue quartz which helps to equalize negative energies. the chain is quite fine but very strong.

i've been selling them at the cassette markets with a friend who makes amazing necklaces every saturday but i thought i would see if any sold via my blog too so i've attached a link below where you can purchase them online for $10 NZD each (that's about $7 USD)

last night was the latest of a succession of birthday celebrations for becky's 20th and i had the most fun in ages! the theme was 'black bubblegum' which was explained in detail - accompanied by a range of fashion spreads - in an email the day of the party which sent me into a sewing frenzy resulting in a rather poorly made, but very pretty, skirt.

oh and i had pink hair tips.

Hello hello, I have lots of excitement to share....

Firstly, thank you to all the entrants and congratulations to Anja for her winning entry in my pixie market comp, it was an extraordinarily difficult competition to choose and there were about 3 entries which were almost impossible to choose between, but in the end I have to say I’m very happy with my decision.

Secondly, I have been featured in Weardrobe’s top 100 blogger’s of 2009 list which is a HUGE honour as I’ve had a look through the entire book and everyone is gorgeous and so very stylish. I’m also stoked to be sharing a page with Natalie because I think she’s lovely (have a look at them all here http://www.weardrobe.com/weardrobe100).

I just received an email from Weardrobe stating they will be printing the book and sending it out to fashion editors and photographers at New York Fashion Week so that’s relatively, overwhelmingly awesome!

Thirdly, this ought to be exciting for any NZers and Aussies reading, I received an email from Urban Outfitters the other day, they are finally going to start shipping to NZ and Australia, and in exchange for feedback, they will be sending me a gift voucher in order to try out the shipping process. Yay!! I love UO and have been wanting them to ship to NZ for soooooo long. I also LOVE free stuff. Perfection.

Fourthly and finally, this time next week I will almost be on a plane to Nepal, by myself, for about 3 weeks of volunteer work. I’m so excited!!!

New years was amazing! I was up at Coromandel with Briar, we went to the concert up there, hired a car and checked out the beaches further up north and down south and made sure we were at the beach all day every day. And that’s what I call summer.

yay, the ends of my hair are blue. I love the little hills, they're all saying "pants" and one is saying "if only we could wear pants". This relates pretty directly to me as I never wear pants... Actually I lie, I wore jeans for the first time in years a few weeks ago... but that was just for one day. I'd gladly give any pants I have ever owned to hills, I'd even try to find a way to help them be able to wear them.

p.s that's my old school uniform hat I'm wearing, I used to hate it, now i'm quite enjoying it.

Sorry about the lack of posts lately, I’ve been busy busy with my uni work, only a few weeks till exams, then I’m finished for the year!!!!! Yay, bring on the summer holidays! Aside from study I’ve had a few things on, I photographed at the NZ Music Awards which was such a really fun experience, Ladyhawke did AMAZINGLY, ah, she’s so cool. Umm other than that nothing much to report, I‘m boring. Here’s some photos from recent times.

I have a new favourite movie, Christiane.F has replaced The Doors in my hall of fame. It’s a tragic but eye-opening true story about the life of a young girl living in Berlin. It portrays the drug scene in Berlin in the 70s, following tape recordings of Christiane F. I took a bunch of screen grabs so have a look then go watch the movie!!

Air New Zealand Fashion Week Recap

I have had a very very busy and exciting week. I’ve been photographing the goings on at ANZFW for frontrowdiary.com, a seriously AMAZING experience, I’m still finding it difficult to realise how incredibly lucky I’ve been. I had an amazing team to work with which has made the entire experience so fun including blogger Rumi Neely of Fashion Toast and her photographer boyfriend Colin who were both very sweet and whom I really hope enjoyed their week. I’ve been taking advantage of my access to the VIP MAC and GHD stations every day to have my hair and makeup done by an incredibly talented team of experts (they can do things I only ever thought possible as a result of seriously intense airbrushing and retouching) and I am very disappointed to now return back down to reality and resort again to pulling my hair up into a high ponytail and hiding my face under very large glasses. The first show to really truely impress me this week, Twenty-seven Names stepped up to the mark this year with fantastic tailoring, military influences and a bit of grunge while still maintaining an element of femininity. I loved the hair and makeup too, wispy top knots and heavy upper eyeliner on an otherwise bare face banded well with the collection.

Following our foreign counterparts lead, video look books were a bit of a trend this year however in my opinion, NomDs was the only collection to really nail this approach, their video encompassed innocence, loss of youth, nostalgia, whimsicality and adventure and managed to bind these themes seamlessly into an artistically beautiful clip. The collection it’s self also really appealed to me with it’s shaggily layered pieces and huge range of colours and styles. Definitely a highlight.

The models at Salasai seemed more confident than any I had seen thus far into the week and it could be understood by anyone who saw what they were wearing. I loved, loved LOVED the messy chunky knitted jumpers and the black shoes with their thick wedges and contrasting white laces. Hair and makeup were also fantastic.

The styling at Kate Syvlester really took the cake. The venue was brilliant and the inspiration really shone through in the clothing. I enjoyed the jumpers which were roughly striped in sheer and opaque panels and the badges on the blazer lapels.

Zambesi went all out and put on the most amazing show, I loved the eerie looped video playing on the back wall as well as the amazing soundtrack, very Tim Burton-esque.

Yay, SGC put together a very impressive collection which stood out completely from the other shows this week, I think this quote by Marc Moore sums it up perfectly "It's hunting and collecting, lost and found. A bit of a mish mash. A bunch of trends and cultures. Nomads, vagabonds and gypsies. The end look is a nomadic gang of sherpa mountain climbers with their kidnapped biker girlfriends." I can’t wait to get my hands on the chunky, black, oversized sweater dress (yes, I have quite a thing for jumpers at the moment)

The most stand-out of the ‘new generation’ designers, Serena Fagence’s monochrome collection was vaguely reminiscent of Gareth Pugh’s S/S 09 looks, I loved the diamond print jacket and Bionic Pixie’s live performance, two shows in one, score!

Other highlights include the amazing Henry Holland tights at Sera Lily, the black velvet mini-dress at Trelise with the statement shoulders and exposed zip at the back, the thigh high boots at.. err.. where was that?, the crowd – every single person I talked to (a lot) was lovely, I couldn’t possibly name a single sour-puss amongst the bunch and my lovely lovely family of photographers, I swear, by the end of the week that press pit felt like home.

Yay, Fashion Week!

Today Alexa and I went down to the site for registration and swag bag collection. It all looks fantastic, especially the Showroom22 area which is in such a perfect location and is where I'll be spending lots of time transferring photos to be uploaded to http://frontrowdiary.com/ so check it outtt!

Heres me (coffee and redbull, i'll be buzzing long enough to stay awake for the Lonely Hearts Installation at 10 tonight), a bunch of invites and my biggest swag bag to date, I love the addition of the stress ball, I have a feeling that's going to come in very handy over the week.

And here are some other bits and pieces, the little guy on the left is very exciting, it grants me access to the MAC, Jo Malone and GHD chill out zone where there's a bar as well as hair and makeup touch ups and hand massages!! Ahh I'm more excited than a fat kid in a candy store (for lack of a more original statement).

Tonight is the opening party followed by the afore mentioned Lonely Hearts installation then hopefully a good nights sleep because tomorrow's a big one and I'm going to need all the rest I can get.

So I just got back from a seriously, insanely awesome trip to Melbourne about a week ago. I went with my friend Nick and we had a brilliant time shopping, partying and chasing possums in the park. I got some really really cool clothes too so hopefully I'll find the time to post them sometime soon! I had a bit of a peek at her shop and have fallen head-over-heels in love with the hardware section!! My mum made the jacket for herself in the late 80s. It has the most insane batwing sleeves, she even dyed the buttons to match. I can only dream of being that talented.

I love the markets, I always eat an absolute excess amount of French blue cheese from the testing sections.

I found this dress of mums up in the attic the other day, It was down to my ankles but now it's cut and hemmed. Aparantly Thornton Hall were pretty big back in New Zealands late 80s but they went under and don't exist anymore. Hm.

Haha the beenie is so gawky, I didn't actually end up wearing it with the outfit, it wasn't cold enough and my face flushes chronically when I heat up so I wanted to avoid looking like a lobster at all costs. The night before MGMT we went to a friends for PreGMT, I definately see a future in interior decorating coming their way, each room was filled with different coloured light bulbs, the lounge had been turned into a forest and a room off the side had been emptied, plastered in tin-foil and set up with a strobe.
MGMT on Tuesday was pretty good, the music was AMAZING but the boys stage presence was a mega let down (no acknowledgement of the audience at all) and they dressed in t-shirts and jeans... Come ON!! you're MGMT! I went again on Thursday and the performance had stepped up a little but still left a lot to be desired. The mood in the mosh however was fantastic.

I had my camera taken off me both nights as apparently it was 'too big' so the only photos I have of the actual gig are terrible ones off my camera phone. ugh. Despite all that though, I still have to rate the entire experience as a positive one and although it may have drooped a little over the past few days, I'll still keep hold of my MGMT flag... metaphorically speaking.

Also, just to put it out there 'The Youth' live is OUT OF THIS WORLD.

I changed the outfit a little, made a nice head piece which I like for its Madagascarian-ish-ness but dislike for its ability to snap two sewing needles in it's creation process.

Also I would like to introduce you to the work of Aurel Schmidt. Look her up, the realism of her sketches is kind of amazing.
